The Hospitality Training Trust was set up in 2011 to advance training in the hospitality sector in New Zealand.
The Trust Deed outlines the aims and purposes of the Trust as:
- advancing training
- developing and promoting excellence, leadership, talent and knowledge
- undertaking research
for the hospitality sector.
The Trust is registered as a charity and is governed by a Board of three Trustees. Appointments to the Board are made by :
- Service Skills Institute Incorporated (Hospitality Advisory Group);
- Tourism Industry Aotearoa (Hotel and Lodge Sector);
- Hospitality New Zealand
for a term of up to three years.
To date the Trust has awarded a range of Grants, initially for projects sponsored by the Hospitality Standard Institute and in 2012 to projects proposed by Service Skills Institute (trading as ServiceIQ). From 2013, applications were invited from other hospitality sector participants and these are outlined in the Grants Awarded section.
